Ah, summer fashions, how we’ve longed for you! From denim cutoffs to panama hats, the look of summer is one of our favorites. One piece we particularly love? The perfect summer scarf. Lightweight scarves are fantastic in the summer for a chilly ocean breeze – they’re an absolute beach-bag staple! So, we thought, why not brighten up an otherwise ordinary plain white scarf with an iconic summer fruit? It’s easy – here’s how:
Materials:
- Foam paper (available at a craft or office supply store)
- Jar lid or wood block
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue
- Fabric or craft paint*
- Paintbrush
- Scarf
- Cardboard
*Most craft paints can be used on fabric – just follow the curing instructions included with the paint.
Step 1: The instructions on how to make a stamp can be used for any shape – simply draw your shape on the foam paper and cut it out. Attach to your jar lid using the glue. (We used a jar lid because it’s what we had on hand. If you want, purchase a wood block to make a prettier stamp.)
Step 2: Place a piece of cardboard beneath the scarf so the paint doesn’t bleed onto your work surface.
Step 3: Using a paintbrush, firmly paint the pineapple and stamp onto the scarf. Repeat this step until the scarf is covered with pineapples. That’s it!
We love our pineapple scarf (and our sunglasses-sporting pineapple!).
What do you think? Would you rock a pineapple scarf on the beach? Be sure to tell us, and check out more of Laurel’s amazing DIYs here!

This scarf is super cute! I LUV it! If u want 2 get creative, instead of pineapples, u can do anything else that reminds u of summer! I thnk that dolphins, star fish, or seashells would be absolutely adorable! I might just try doing dolphins on a beach bag…..
Thing is so cute! I’m gonna make this cute scarf when the days get sunny ! 🙂
