A Lovely Bedroom Makeover with Vanilla Extract Blog

titleshotHey guys! It’s Nichole from Vanilla Extract fashion blog, and today I’m taking over The Stylehouse AND PBteen’s Instagram account! I’m so excited to give you all a little peek into my bedroom makeover. I’ve always been a bit timid when it comes to design and decorating – I’m much more of a fashionista than a decor expert. While I’ve always been confident about what I’d like to see in my home, executing the entire vision has been a challenge. A couple months ago, I began working with Sue Rein of The Dandelion Design to bridge the gap between my personal style and my home decor style. Turns out, decorating and fashion are pretty darn interrelated!2

When PBteen asked if I wanted to show off my bedroom, I jumped at the opportunity! I knew I wanted to outfit my room with goodies from my favorite PBteen collection, which was co-designed with Emily Current and Meritt Elliott. Whether you’re a teen, a college student or even a 20-something post-grad, this collection has something for everyone. I went for all things black, white and gold (which, if you follow me on Instagram, shouldn’t be a surprise!).

314I went with a simple duvet cover so I could incorporate pattern on both the sheets and pillows. Scalloped edges gave the duvet a feminine touch, but the simple color palette kept it from coming across too girly.

9I also made some updates to my desk area, which was so bland before I hung these picture ledges. Call me crazy, but the inspirational prints I placed on them make me work harder! I’m planning to change out the frames and prints whenever I feel the need to get re-inspired. 8

As far as desk accessories go, I’m loving the chic MEOW tray and gold hourglass (both from the Emily + Meritt collection!). I swear the hourglass is improving my email game – I try to finish an email before the gold sand reaches the bottom. Sometimes, I’m successful!

What do you think? To see more of my style (fashion and home decor) head to Vanilla Extract and follow me on Instagram. Also, don’t forget to check out PBteen’s Instagram today – I’ll be taking over to show you a day in my life!
